Sapphire

Sapphires derive their color from iron within the stone and are formed as crystals in marble, basalt and pegmatite. The origin determines the color of the stone: Australian stones are a deep blue; Sri Lankan stones are a patchy blue color; while Kashmir stones are a milky cornflour blue.

Color: Black, purple, violet, shades of blue, green, yellow, orange.
